This should be the final.
Nil all draws can still be enticing to watch. Sometimes, more so. This was the case this morning with Barca and United competing heavily to a scoreless stalemate. And in a Goliath v Goliath game, it’s what you’d hope and expect.
Cristiano Ronaldo is still playing some amazing football. Granted, he should have converted the pently in the second minute, but lets forget about that. He is without a doubt the spark for Manchester United. With him they can ignite to some amazing goals.
Everytime he got the ball at about half way he’d turn on one defender then cut inside another and you’d just think to yourself, “You know, there’s only six other players between him and the goal. I reckon he could make this.”
It is amazing to watch his footwork, which though has always been his strength, has improved dramatically this season I feel.
Switch to Barcelona for a second and the start of their ignition sequence is without a shadow of a doubt Lionel Messi. If the kid wasn’t injured most of the season, my mind boggles as to how different Barca’s season might have been.
His footwork is almost as good as Cristiano, hasn’t quite got as much pace, but he will still turn any defender, out run you 95% of the time and he has the remarkable quality Ronaldo appears to lack; he loves to pass.
There is nothing better to make a defender look ridiculous then a perfectly executed One-Two. Easy skill that you pick up in under 10’s but is so effective it causes defensive nightmares in the Champions League. Lionel Messi is a god at this. He pulls the defenders in and then just hands it off to a teammate and makes the run to give him the option.
Overall, an exciting game, atleast for a football analyst like myself and not a goal groupie. It takes more then goals to win a match. Alex Ferguson played this leg perfectly. The chances of making a goal at Nou Camp were astronomically small, stacked defence with Ronaldo sitting upfront just in case for the counter is just what United needed.
Expect a drastically different game Wednesday morning. And oh yes. There will be goals.
