Toon Drama: Newcastle United Transfers
It's like a good old fashioned drama on Tyneside, something not even Geordie Shore could possibly match. It's a reality drama, and seems to leave a clubs supporter base divided but united on one front. Newcastle fans are United in the hate for Mike Ashley, and his right hand man Derek Llambias.
Fans were left in shock when Barton was not offered a new contract, and then went to Twitter to unleash. Then when talks with Kevin Nolan stalled even though he was offered an extension, fans were seething when Nolan made the switch to West Ham.
Talk is that Nolan wanted a fresh 5 year contract, something that Newcastle have offered new boys Mehdi Abeid, Yohan Cabaye, and recent addition Sylvain Marveaux. Bemba Ba arrived at Newcastle on a shortened contract to the rest, but there is that option of adding more time.
Newcastle are said to have lost patience with Nile Ranger, who was photographed posing with a gun, Leon Best has been told he's no longer required, as has Alan Smith. The Magpies have also released unsurprisingly Sol Campbell and Shefki Kuqi. Also following them out of the door at St. James' is youngster Patrick McLaughlin.
James Perch has said he wants to find himself a new club, and Newcastle are only happy to oblige, lack of first team football has seen the former Nottingham Forest player seek a transfer. He's willing to head back to the Championship, to find form and first team football.
Perch managed some games, but then was replaced by a returning Danny Simpson who has found himself some form. Full-back Jose Enrique's future is uncertain as the Spanish star hasn't yet talked to Pardew about signing a new deal.
He was offered a "fantastic new deal" by Newcastle but has yet to speak to anyone, Pardew is hopeful he'll stay but it seems he's gone. Newcastle are chasing Stephen Warnock as his replacement as it seems Neil Taylor from Swansea will find his way to Everton.
Back to the drama surrounding the club, while Barton wants to stay at the club he's firing off at every chance he can get. Also claiming that Jonas Gutierrez and Jose Enrique are the next to leave the club. But has Barton done his dream of staying more harm by mouthing off on Twitter, considering the management of the club already don't like him?
It seems that if you want to make yourself look like a different person, a man that should remain at the club you should act professionally. Barton claims he will reject all deals and be force out of the club when his contract ends, but would he live up to this should the right offer come?
Joey does want to see success return to St. James' Park, he wants to be apart of that and will do all he can do bring it. But all this drama, could it have a negative effect on the club? Now going back to Kevin Nolan, I was sad to see him leave the club. I wanted to see him stay, and help lead this club for the rest of his career.
I even considered verbally ranting at the administration that saw him leave, but I do see their point of view. I do see that we need to look at keeping young talented players long term, and Nolans form had been dipping. A contract extension would have seen him able to show the club he should be there longer, but that was never going to happen and he's gone.
Newcastle has made some decent signings, missed out on Gervinho, and Gameiro, but that's fine we have other options. N'Zogbia wants to play for Newcastle, or so he says but he's holding clubs to ransom, and will only sign for the club that offers him 60k a week or higher.
I never wanted him back, and now it looks likely he will not be back in black and white. Newcastle are going to try and sign Sturridge on loan, Sturridge has suggested he'd goto Newcastle for more first team football, rumours suggest if he was signed he'd be given Number 9.
The famous Number 9 has not been worn since the January sale of striker Andy Carroll to Liverpool. Speaking of Andy, rumours say he's unsettled at Liverpool, and wants to go back. The same reports suggest they are regretting bringing him to Merseyside. But those are rumours, a lot of rumours fly around at this time.
So now we look to the future, it seems we've all but lost Enrique, Seville has tried to secure Coloccini but have fallen short of what Newcastle would want, Aston Villa also wants to poach former Manchester United defender Danny Simpson. But they can keep on walking, Danny is firmly a new part of the future of the Newcastle United defence, and their new manager can find a defender somewhere else.
Since Leon Best, and Ranger are told they have no futures at the club, why hasn't Peter Lovenkrands? I am a fan don't get me wrong, but Leon Best had looked like he was going to be a good replacement for Andy Carroll, and Ranger at times had more excitement in him then Ameobi, and this was coming off the bench.
Though I suppose Ranger had off field issues that saw them not want to go through Andy Carroll part two with the off field stuff. But it doesn't make any sense, but the Summer Window has not opened just yet, and there is still time to see Lovenkrands find a new home as well.
Though one more season could see him become something good in the Newcastle Shirt.
